Most of the time they are spotted in large flocks of 300 birds, making for an impressive and noisy sight. They thrive in Eucalyptus woodland, high rainforests, plantations, and interior heathland. Mainly present in coastal areas and further inland, they can be seen even at altitudes of up to 2000 meters. These include parts of Queensland and New South Wales, but also Tasmania and Kangaroo Islands. Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo is found in a few smaller regions in southern Australia.
